The Restaurant Project is a new and original initiative I created to teach children aged 6 to 12 years old about the basics of restaurant and front of house in particular.
Through The Restaurant Project children learn about the fundamental difference between serving guests and looking after guests, they learn too about the beauty of excellence and striving to be the best and fulfilling their potential.
During the session the children are encouraged to take part and participate. Parallels are drawn with their own life and with what they enjoy doing and desire to be the best at. For children it’s fun to be the best!
“What is he doing? Why is he doing that? Etc…”
To follow, children are shown The Art of Service restaurant board game so that they can understand and see for themselves the different parts of the restaurant:
The blue part-the reservation, the pink part-the reception, the green part-the bar and the beige part-the restaurant.
And finally it’s ROLE PLAY time!
Each session lasts for about 1 hour (with a group of 15 children and 1 teacher). I am currently looking for Front of House Professionals interested to run sessions in local schools. I will be at #FOHTweet at Sophie Steak House on Thursday the 7th April at 7pm to talk about The Restaurant Project.
I hope you will join me and create your own Restaurant Project.
See you Thursday night!
