Grace Dent of the Evening Standard finds that Covent Garden dining hotspot, Frenchie, doesn’t live up to the hype.
“Frenchie allotted us a stinker of a seat with the warning it was needed back in 90 minutes. Thankfully, a small plate arrived soon after — warm fresh bacon scones with a sticky maple syrup glaze and a dainty quenelle of seasoned Cornish clotted cream. Excellent. It was hard to stay irked in the face of such joy. Two following snacks of duck cromesquis — confit duck croquettes — and courgette flower tempura were both skilfully hewn and definitely tasty, albeit not quite warm enough when they landed.
