Churchill Summer Cocktails-49

On 8 June, the Hyatt Regency London – the Churchill will be launching its summer terrace, inspired by the summers Sir Winston and Lady Churchill spent at Chartwell, and in Italy.

Chartwell was the family home of Churchill and his wife Clementine, near Westerham, Kent. It is now a National Trust building and features still remain such as the made-made lakes, kitchen garden and a playhouse designed for Churchill’s daughter Mary.

The Churchill Bar and Terrace at the Hyatt Regency London, in association with the National Trust’s Chartwell, aims to bring the gardens of Churchill’s family home to London.

The terrace will be adorned with roses and wisteria, feature English red brick walls, a trickling water feature and exact replicas of Chartwell’s benches.

Having partnered with Bacardi, the Churchill Bar and Terrace will offer eight new seasonal cocktails including the ‘Lady Rose’ inspired by Chartwell’s famous Rose Garden; ‘The Honeymoon’ which takes inspiration from the Churchills’ Italian honeymoon; and the ‘Kitchen Garden’ which features fresh Chartwell Apple juice, exclusive to the Churchill Bar.

The food menu will revolve around British cuisine, with dishes such as sausage rolls with mustard mayo, chilled beetroot and raspberry soup, citrus marinated tiger prawns and a ploughman’s board on offer.

Katherine Barnett, house and collections manager at Chartwell said: “We are delighted to work with Hyatt Regency London – the Churchill to bring the serenity and beauty of Chartwell to London. The design details of the Churchill Bar’s Summer Terrace reflect key features of Chartwell and in particular the much loved gardens that surround Sir Winston’s country home.

“We are especially excited that the Churchill Bar’s Chartwell Terrace will be the first to offer our apple juice, freshly pressed from the Chartwell Orchard, expertly mixed by the Churchill Bar and Terrace’s famed mixologists”
