Patty Bun Richmond Rd - PWF - 0156

Following the launch of Patty & Bun on Richmond Road in January, the restaurant will be welcoming an array of chefs to take over the kitchen for a series of one-off events.

The impressive line-up includes: Yossi “Papi” Elad, the Palomar; Rosio Sanchez, owner of Nordic taco emporia Hija de Sanchez and onetime Noma queenpin; Claude Bosi, of the iconic Bibendum; and Michelin-starred Swede Niklas Ekstedt.

Ekstedt will be hosting first for two nights on 15 and 16 May. At Ekstedt, his eponymous Stockholm restaurant, the chef has banned gas and electric from his cooking, instead making use of a fire pit, a wood fired oven and a wood stove.

Diners can expect dishes such as hay-flamed salmon, ember cooked beef and sour cream sorbet.

The chef takeover events, called Family Style, is the product of a conversation between Patty & Bun owner Joe Grossmann and restaurant writer and event organiser Joe Warwick.

Grossmann said: “It’s been a long time in the making off the back of some of the great chef nights we did last year and conversations with the like-minded Mr Warwick. The essence of the nights is all in the name – Family Style – an evening of communal and convivial vibes with amazing food and great characters.

“We just wanted to create one off super unique and special nights with incredible chefs to really let loose a little and express themselves in a different space to their restaurants. The line-up is unreal, so expect something different every time, with Niklas kicking off procedures we couldn’t be more excited to launch!”

Warwick added: “I’m really looking forward to the Family Style nights, to getting these great chefs out of their kitchens and having some fun with them. I love the idea of sharing food at a shared table, of getting stuck in and making some new friends, it’s a great way to eat, drink and be merry. This is going to be a great night out, a social experience that will hopefully go beyond the great food and drink on offer. I’m also very excited with the line-up of chefs we have confirmed for the first four events.”
