World-famous violinist Giovanni Guzzo treated two-Michelin-starred chef Simon Rogan to a special performance in the kitchen of the French restaurant at the Midland hotel.
Guzzo, who is also the lead violinist at Manchester Camerata, came to give Rogan some inspiration as he will create a one-off six-course menu based around the famous 1709 Stradivarius violin. It will be served at the launch of Manchester Camerata’s International Directors Circle dinner at the Midland hotel in October.
Rogan will draw inspiration from the wood, history, style and sounds of the iconic violin made by Antonio Stradivari in 1709, which is on loan to the orchestra from benefactor Jonathan Moulds.
Bob Riley, chief executive of Manchester Camerata, said: “To be offered the opportunity to launch this membership scheme in such a creative and tasty way is typical of the generosity, warmth and style afforded to anyone who walks through the door at the Midland – huge thanks to Mike, Simon and the whole team. We look forward to hearing about the unique dishes as they emerge from Simon’s mind.”
