The second annual NRB Top 50 awards, which are announced live at the Northern Restaurant & Bar (NRB) show, are open for entries. An online entry form is available at and must be submitted by the closing deadline of Thursday 7 February.

The awards recognise and honour 50 individuals from influential hospitality operators based in the north of England. Entries for this year’s NRB Top 50 line-up will be chosen by a panel of experts from the Russell Partnership who, as well as judging entries, will also scour the region researching the industry’s stars. Those selected will be chosen based on their successes, achievements and their impact on the northern hospitality industry.

New for 2013 will be three special achievement winners which will be announced on the first day of the two day show which runs from Tuesday 5 to Wednesday 6 March at Manchester Central.

This year’s awards are supported by recruitment company, Berkeley Scott, and The Russell Partnership, an international hospitality consultancy.

Speaking about the show’s prestigious powerlist, Thom Hetherington, Northern Restaurant & Bar’s managing director, said: “With 42 per cent1 of all hospitality establishments based in the region and a £14 billion2 turnover, we wanted to highlight the people who are contributing to this booming industry and honour their successes.

“The NRB Top 50 is all about celebrating these inspiring individuals who have each made a significant impact in their businesses whilst driving commercial and critical success, creating employment, training and investment, and creating profile and prestige for the region and its hospitality sector.”

How to enter

Anyone wishing to enter or nominate a colleague or client for this year’s awards, simply needs to complete a registration form which is hosted on the Northern Restaurant & Bar website by Thursday 7 February:

About NRB

Now in its 12th year, NRB is the North’s leading hospitality trade show and will take place at Manchester Central convention centre on 5 and 6 March. The 2013 show will be 20% larger than last year, with almost 6,000 visitors expected over two days. An additional 50 exhibitor stands will bring the total number of food, drink and catering suppliers at this year’s event to almost 200.

The trade-only showcase will welcome exhibitors and visitors including restaurateurs, hoteliers, publicans, chefs, deli owners and bartenders from across the north of England. It also acts as a hub for a number of satellite events including hosting major launches for Hotel Future, the national training academy, and industry charities Hospitality Action and Action Against Hunger.
