The standard of the competition is high every year and the enthusiasm of the competitors was certainly notable with their dedication shining through.
The winner Ben Murphy Chef De Partie at Koffmanns, since July 2010, is a committed individual that claims to “enjoy learning his craft and exploring new culinary techniques”. He said “I am a young chef with ambition and lots of work to do”.

- Calvados Savarin, Yogurt, Apple, Tarragon, Apple Crumble Ice-cream.
Runners up were Jack Allibone, Simpsons Restaurant (2nd place) and Lewis Gallagher, Stanley House Hotel & Spa (3rd place).
Steve Munkley, event organiser, said of the worthy winner “he was innovative in his recipe development and delivery whilst being consistent across all 3 dishes. Ben’s professional working methods shone through and his previous training and competition expertise including World Skills has again come to the fore.”
This year’s headline sponsors were catering equipment supplier Lockhart Catering Equipment, Unilever’s largest brand Knorr, and one of the global leaders in appliances for professional use, Electrolux. Other sponsors included Barry Callebaut, Blue Arrow Catering, Continental Chef Supplies (CCS), Churchill, Culinary Innovation, Gourmet Classic, RARE, Sheffield City College and Westminster Kingsway College.
