In sport there are certain competitions that get the pulses racing just a little bit more than others. Whether it’s the World Cup, Wimbledon (fingers crossed for Murray this year!) or even the Grand National, the flair of these particular events seem to stand head and shoulders above the rest. They are the ones you dream of winning as a kid and they are the ones that really matter.
The cooking world is very similar. There are a number of competitions on the circuit, but one event does remain as the ultimate prize – The National Chef of the Year Award, which will be held at The Restaurant Show on October 11th. It’s the 39th year where the best chefs from around the country compete for the prestigious culinary prize.
Past winners include famous faces like Gordon Ramsay and Simon Hulstone and the race is now well and truly on. A total of 40 chefs have just been named as semi-finalists. The semi-finals will take place in London and Sheffield.
